  • Committee on Women and the Legal Profession:

    —Regularly publishes the “Ask Pat” column in the Bar Bulletin.
    —Continues efforts in proposing changes to New Mexico’s gender neutral statute, NMSA 1978, § 12-2A-5.
    —Conducted a 2007 Summit on Women and the Legal Profession.
    —Sponsors support group meetings for lawyers who are parents.
    —Sponsors the annual Outstanding Women Advocacy Award presented by the State Bar.
    —Plans to publish prototypes of family leave policies.
    —Address issues raised by various respondents in future “Ask Pat” columns.
    —Explores ways to increase law school student involvement in the Committee and serving the needs of female law students.

Sandia Golf Course

 

 

Ladies,
The time has come to sign up for a five-week golf program! This program is great for beginner, intermediate or even established players who haven't golfed in years. The "Get Golf Ready" program runs from Wednesday, April 24, to Wednesday, May 22, at the Sandia Golf Club.

Discover the Game and Love it for Life!!

In just five lessons, students can expect to learn basic techniques from chipping and putting to full swing and bunker play, along with fundamental guidelines for the use and maintenance of golf equipment, keeping score and navigating the course.

Start date : Wednesday, April 24, 4–5 p.m.

Frequency : Each Wednesday through May 22

Student-Teacher Ratio : 6 to 1 Max

Cost : $125 per person

    d.      Full swing – irons and woods

    e.      Fairway and rough

    g.      Playing golf/navigating the course

Following the five-week program, we will be launching a bimonthly program that will get players on the course to play 9 holes in a fun and comfortable setting. Please contact Matt Molloy at 505-798-3996 with any questions.

We also will be reserving space on the clubhouse patio after each session for a social/mixer event for those wishing to stay, or if you couldn't make the golf program but still want to meet other women golfers. After our final session on May 22, we will be hosting a wine tasting event for all participants.

Sanders Named Recipient of 2013 Justice Mary Walters Award

Albuquerque— Each year, the UNM Women’s Law Caucus chooses an outstanding woman in the New Mexico legal community to honor in the name of former Justice Mary Walters, who was the first woman appointed to the New Mexico Supreme Court. Walters represents a pioneering spirit for women in the legal community and the award given in her name stands for courage, strong ethics, leadership, and mentorship in the legal field. Maureen Sanders, an attorney with Sanders & Westbrook PC in Albuquerque, has been named the 2013 recipient of the Justice Mary Walters Award. The award will be presented at a dinner from 6–8 p.m., March 29, at the UNM Student Union Building, Ballroom B. Tickets are $50 or $350 for a table of eight.
