Young Lawyers Division
The Young Lawyers Division participates in the Wills for Heroes Program, which provides essential legal documents free of charge to New Mexico’s first responders Services include wills, living wills, and powers of attorney. By planning now, first responders from local police and fire departments (including spouses and domestic partners) can ensure that their family's legal affairs are in order. Through the Wills for Heroes Program, attorneys are giving back to the community and "protecting those who protect us." Upcoming Wills for Heroes Events:
The Young Lawyers Division seeks attorney volunteers for a Wills for Heroes event from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Feb. 25, at the Albuquerque Police Academy, 5412 2nd St. NW, Albuquerque. Attorneys will draft wills, advanced healthcare directives and powers of attorney, free of charge, for qualified first responders. No prior experience with wills or estate planning is needed. This is a great opportunity to honor our first responders and provide a valuable service to the community. Volunteers must have their own P.C. laptop computers (sorry no Macs) with Microsoft Word programming. Everything else will be provided and supervised. For more information or to volunteer, contact Samantha Hults, YLD Chair, at sammysam01@yahoo.com by February 17, 2012. To first responders: Find out if you qualify.
