All members of the State Bar of New Mexico who have practiced law in any state for five years or less and those State Bar members who are under the age of thirty-six are members of the Division.

2007 Election Notice

I. Procedure:

The Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar is governed by a Board of Directors whose members are elected to staggered, two-terms by the active, in-state members of the Division. All members of the State Bar of New Mexico who have practiced law in any state for five years or less and those State Bar members who are under the age of thirty-six are members of the Division.

Nominations for the following positions may be made in the form of a petition signed by at least ten (10) members of the Division. Specific residence requirements apply for Region Director positions (see the Nominating Petition that follows). The deadline for submission of Nominating Petitions to the State Bar office is Oct. 15, 2007.

II. Positions to be filled:

2008-2009 Director-at-Large Position 1
2008-2009 Director-at-Large Position 3
2008-2009 Director-at-Large Position 5
2008-2009 Region 1 Director (Eleventh Judicial District)
2008-2009 Region 3 Director (5th and 9th Judicial Districts)
2008-2009 Region 4 Director (3rd, 6th and 12th Judicial Districts and Sierra County)
2008-2009 Region 5 Director (2nd and 13th Judicial Districts and Catron, Socorro and Torrance counties)

III. Election Timeline:

September 17 Publication of election notice
October 15      Last day to submit nominating petitions
November 2     Ballots to be mailed (if contested)
November 23   Deadline for receipt of ballots
