All members of the State Bar of New Mexico who have practiced law in any state for five years or less and those State Bar members who are under the age of thirty-six are members of the Division.

2011 Election Notice

I. Procedure:

The Young Lawyers Division of the State Bar is governed by a Board of Directors whose members are elected to staggered, two-terms by the active, in-state members of the Division. All members of the State Bar of New Mexico who have practiced law in any state for five years or less and those State Bar members who are under the age of thirty-six are members of the Division.

Nominations for the following positions may be made in the form of a petition signed by at least ten (10) members of the Division. Specific residence requirements apply for Region Director positions. The deadline for submission of Nominating Petitions to the State Bar office is Oct. 14, 2011.

II. Positions to be filled:

2012-2013 Director-at-Large Position 3

2012-2013 Region 1 Director - (Eleventh Judicial Districts)
2012-2013 Region 3 Director - (Fifth and Ninth Judicial Districts)

2011-2012 Region 4 Director -

(Third, Sixth, and Twelfth Judicial Districts and Sierra County)

2012-2013 Region 5 Director - (2nd and 13th Judicial Districts and Catron, Socorro and Torrance counties)

September 21 Publication of election notice
October 14       Last day to submit nominating petitions
October 28      Ballots will be available here online (if contested)
November 18    Deadline to cast ballot
December 7    Final election results published
