Attorneys Give Free Legal Help in Luna County

Albuquerque, N.M. – A free legal advice day will be held from 10 a.m.–1 p.m., Monday, Oct. 21, at the Luna County District Courthouse, 855 S. Platinum Ave., Deming.  Attorneys will be available to provide free consultations on a first-come, first-served basis on a variety of civil legal topics, including probate, divorce, custody, landlord/tenant, bankruptcy, unemployment, and immigration. Interpreters will be available.

District Judge Daniel Viramontes states, “Across the state of New Mexico, low-income people are putting their legal needs on hold in order to cover medical expenses, pay for childcare, and put food on the table, among other priorities.  We are hoping that through this free legal advice day, people in Luna County can get information and guidance on those issues that have taken a backseat up until now.  I am so grateful for the time and commitment provided by the volunteers who will make this free legal fair possible.”

This clinic is presented by the Sixth Judicial District Pro Bono Committee and New Mexico Legal Aid.  For more information, contact Jane Zhi at 505-797-6040 or jzhi@nmbar.org.
