Family Law Issues Subject of Institute
Albuquerque, N.M.—The State Bar of New Mexico Family Law Section will sponsor the 2010 Family Law Institute Oct. 15–16 at the State Bar Center.
Shannon Minter, Legal Director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights in San Francisco is the special guest speaker. Minter will cover equitable parentage and national trends in parentage in the contest of unmarried parents and domestic partners. Other topics will cover step-parent/grandparent/foster parent custody, kinship guardianship, child support, non-traditional families and malpractice issues.
The Family Law Section seeks to formally recognize the importance of domestic relations law and its complex, sensitive and rapidly changing status. The section provides a forum within the bar through which the study of domestic relations law is encouraged and fostered so that the practice of domestic relations law is improved. The section constantly seeks better ways to ensure that children's interests are protected.
