The Implications and Ethics of Social Media and Your Law Practice Friday, June 8, 2012
The Women's Bar Association is committed to offering a series of affordable CLEs throughout the state and presented its first CLE on June 9, 2011 at Seasons Rotisserie & Grill. The two-credit program, entitled "Ethics, Professionalism and your Duties as an Attorney to the Public," featured speakers Barbara Koenig, Esq., from Foster, Rieder and Jackson, P.C., and Kate Mulqueen, PhD., a human resources consultant who specializes in organizational development and training, and who serves as the Director of Bar Foundation Development for the State Bar of New Mexico. The program focused on ethical considerations when networking, along with practical techniques and suggestions on how to successfully network.
Immediately after the CLE, the WBA hosted a happy hour reception and offered attendees an opportunity to put their skills to practice. Many thanks to all of the members of our legal community who came out to enjoy the reception, and to our law firm sponsors, McGinn, Carpenter, Montoya & Love, P.A., and The Harvey Law Firm, for helping to create such a great event.
On Saturday, July 16, 2011 the Women's Bar Association presented a one hour CLE program during the State Bar Annual Meeting at the Buffalo Thunder Resort in Santa Fe. The program, "Gender Roles in the Courtroom," was presented by the Honorable C. Shannon Bacon and the Honorable Sarah Singleton, who engaged participants in a discussion about topics such as consideration of gender in the selection of witness and whether it is appropriate, limiting an attorney's role in the courtroom based on gender, and how judges treat female lawyers and whether we have evolved.
