Pre-Petition Credit Counseling - New bankruptcy case petitions must be accompanied by a certificate of completion of a budget and credit counseling briefing. The new law has made this requirement a provision of section 109(h) of the Bankruptcy Code, which relates to eligibility to be a debtor. The requirement is applicable to individual debtors in chapter 7 and 13 cases.

Staff attorneys will conduct a financial Powers of Attorney. Following the presentation, attorneys will assist participants with the execution of Powers of Attorney documents. No appointments are being made.
All senior citizens who live in the area are encouraged to attend, regardless of whether they have previously participated in events at the senior center. This may be the only occasion the Lawyer Referral for the Elderly Program will be in the county during the next year.
