Governor Richardson Proclaims Aug. 26 Paralegal Day

Albuquerque, N.M. – To acknowledge the invaluable contributions made by paralegals to the legal system in New Mexico, Governor Richardson has proclaimed Aug. 26, 2009 as Paralegal Day http://www.nmbar.org/AboutSBNM/ParalegalDivision/pdnews.html. The State Bar Paralegal Division http://www.nmbar.org/AboutSBNM/ParalegalDivision/paralegaldivision.html represents the paralegal profession and works to enhance professional development among its members by providing continuing education, participating in State Bar programs and volunteering to assist the public with legal needs. Paralegals must meet specific educational requirements in order to join the division.

The State Bar of New Mexico was organized in 1886 and is composed of more than 8500 members. Its purposes are to aid the courts in administering justice and preserving the rule of law, and to foster a high standard of integrity and competence within the legal profession.
