Grant County Attorneys Give Legal Help Oct. 28 During Pro Bono Week
Albuquerque, N.M. – From 1:30 to 5 p.m., Oct. 28, residents of Silver City can attend free seminars and receive 15 minutes of legal advice on a variety of topics including landlord/tenant rights, estate planning, consumer protection and family law. The event will be held on the third floor of the WNMU Student Memorial Building.
Similar events are scheduled statewide as part of national Pro Bono Week Oct. 25–30. Sponsored by the ABA Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service, the celebration is a coordinated national effort to showcase the great difference that pro bono lawyers make to the nation, its system of justice, its communities and, most of all, to the clients they serve. The week is also dedicated to the quest for more pro bono volunteers to meet the ever-growing legal needs of this country's most vulnerable citizens. Events in New Mexico are coordinated by the Access to Justice Commission. For more information on the commission, visit http://www.nmbar.org/Attorneys/AccessJusticecommission.html.
The State Bar of New Mexico was organized in 1886 and is composed of more than 8500 members. Its purposes are to aid the courts in administering justice and preserving the rule of law, and to foster a high standard of integrity and competence within the legal profession.
