Update on Probate Law
Albuquerque, N.M.—Probate is a process by which property of a decedent is retitled. As with any legal proceeding, the technical aspects to probate and trust administration are important to the probate attorney. The 2011 Probate Institute, sponsored by the State Bar Real Property, Trust, and Estate Section, will address these technicalities and more Sept. 22 at the State Bar Center.
Featured speakers include Hon. Wendy York, Thomas Popejoy, Eric Burton, Danielle Panter, and Ken Leach. Additional distinguished presenters include Loral Butler, senior vice president of the N.M. Bank and Trust; Patrick Schaefer, senior regional trust manager of Wells Fargo Bank; Joel Widman of the Disciplinary Board; and Brent Carey and Susan Buchroeder of Financial Strategy Group.
The continuing legal education program will cover mediation, uniform probate codes, Internal Revenue codes, discretionary trusts, ethical issues, and an update on economic trends and business valuations.
