There are many issues facing senior citizens today that only a few years ago were unheard of. Seniors need to be aware of their legal rights and those resources that ensure those rights are enforced. The handbook was developed to assist and empower seniors living in New Mexico so that they may enjoy the highest quality of life possible.
The handbook is based on New Mexico law and is intended to inform seniors of their legal rights and resources available to enforce those rights. The handbook is not intended nor should it be used to provide advice, legal or otherwise. Exceptions may exist to the information contained in this handbook. Every individual is unique and so too is every individual’s situation or problem. Always seek the advice of an attorney for assistance with your individual problems, questions or needs.
From time to time, supplements to the handbook will be made available reflecting changes and new developments in the laws, issues and resources affecting seniors. These supplements are available through the Lawyer Referral for the Elderly Program by mail, PO Box 92860, Albuquerque, NM 87199-2860, or can be accessed online from this Web site.
