The State Bar of New Mexico Access to Justice Fund Grant Commission (the “Grant Commission”) was created by the Board of Bar Commissioners on December 7, 2017 in response to the NM Supreme Court’s Order on December 4, 2017 which returned oversight of the annual grant funding process to a new commission created by the State Bar of New Mexico. The Grant Commission shall be responsible for soliciting grant applications, reviewing the applications, and awarding grants to civil legal service organizations consistent with the current State Plan for the Provision of Civil Legal Services to Low Income New Mexicans ("State Plan").
Therefore, the Grant Commission now seeks grant applications from nonprofit organizations that provide civil legal services to low income New Mexicans within the scope of the State Plan. Upon review of the applications, the Grant Commission will make the final decision regarding applicants to be awarded grants and the amount of each grant.
